Suvam Dey Biswas & his team often feel that people come to us to be photographed as they would go to a doctor or a fortune-teller--to find out how they are. So they’re dependent on us. We have to engage them. First, we perceive, what the portfolio is for. If you want to become a ramp model, you need to get full-length shots; if you want to become a face model, you will want to focus on your face. If you are unclear then get a range of shots focusing on your strengths… that’s the key, to play to your strengths. There is no point trying to become a hand model if your hands are not your best feature after all – is there? But if, for instance, you have lush wavy hair, then don’t forget to show that off!

 

No matter how beautiful or handsome you are, a stark stunning backdrop always helps. If the photo looks aesthetically appealing, you have more of a chance at being noticed by an editor or a modelling agency. Most importantly, remember not to clutter the background so that the eye can go straight to you and not to a hundred things in the photograph.
